Sunset in PJ along the federal highway
|
|
|
Nowadays weather is dull and boring because of haze. More often than not what you always see is only flat lighting with white sky which is unfavourable to photographer and not exciting to take picture. The last time I stumbled on the beautiful sky with wonderful sunset was somewhere in the middle of last month. I happened to take along my camera at that time so I stopped on the flyover crossing the federal highway near KWSP building and managed to snap one shot before the sky turned dark......

On the weekend before last I jumped at the opportunity for shooting fast action as I rarely do that. Ted proposed that we go and shoot mountain bike race at Taman Tun Dr Ismail on the bright Sunday morning instead of our early plan to do street shooting in KL.
Enuff said. It was full of fast paced action. Although I was not very happy with my loaned camera lent by Nikon as mine was under repair (Nikon was so generous to loan me one unit of its consumer body while mine was undergoing repair) I can safely say that it performed quite well (Nikon F65).
It was fun shooting those cyclists who either cycled or pushed their bike as they couldnt stand cycling on the very steep slope at times. And thanks to Ted for giving me a tip or two on how to shoot fast speed, do panning and create zoom burst (sorry Ted zoom burst didnt work well and I am not going to show you the result here in public) hehehe.
Anyway enjoy viewing various action that our participants had to endure and some of the spectators as well..
Do visit Ted's fotopages http://ted.fotopages.com &

Tanjong Malim
|
|
Tanjong Malim which is 75km north of Kuala Lumpur used to be a peaceful and quiet small town. What people know about Tanjong Malim is probably for its MPSI (Sultan Idris Teaching College) or for its famous pau (steamed bun with chicken curry, beef curry or sweet concoction filling). However now things have drastically changed. Firstly, MPSI has been upgraded to a university which means many more students per intake every year contributing to the drastically rising demand for rented houses, food, and all the necessities that students will normally need in their daily life.
Secondly the development of Proton City where Proton (Malaysian local car manufacturer) main manufacturing plant is set up there in Tanjong Malim. With both chief contributing factors Tanjong Malim cant help but succumb to the demand for the development which is progressing at break-neck speed at the moment.
The row of new shops and shophouses as well as new housing garden are mushrooming. Houses are selling like hot 'pau' now. Once a quiet town now people in Tanjong Malim have to put up with traffic jam! Before the further development rids Tanjong Malim of its precious old and colonial buildings I took the opprtunity to capture them for the new generation of Tanjong Malim people and Malaysian in general. As I go there every now and then to pay a visit to my brother-in-law who lives there I believe I have more opportunities to record many other interesting image of Tanjong Malim.
Do enjoy the pictures of old buildings and shophouses which may vanish some day to make way for the development of the new modern shops.

To be frank, I am not really fond of night photography. The black space that dominate the whole scene looks gloomy to me except for a certain occassion like fireworks or full moon.
However I have a few night scenes in my collection....Do enjoy viewing them while waiting for my latest entry

Paya Indah Wetland
|
|
About 3 weeks ago I had photo outing with photomalaysia.com fellow members to Paya Indah Wetland. It was the first time I went there. It was really fun as there were 13 of us shooting and enjoying the mother nature. Luckily the weather was very fine for the whole day to let us burn film and CCD (for those using digicam) like nobody’s business.
Besides nature shot we also visited an abandoned mine dredger regarded to be the largest in the world and the rusty and corroded giant machine was not spared by our shooting spree. The giant machine was abandoned since the tin stock has depleted and they have stopped the mining activities.
Do enjoy viewing the resulting photos below.
You can also view the Paya Indah Wetland photos at the following fotopages belonging to the members who joined the photo outing.

Early this month I decided to shoot KLCC to add to my portfolio and garner more materials for my upcoming website. It has been quite long since I last shot KLCC so I thought it was time I shot it again. Knowing that the lighting at sunrise is as magnificent as sunset I didnt mind waking up very early on that weekend and reached KLCC when it was still dark. Although the lighting and the colour of the sky was not that superb on that day I managed to capture the warm early sunlight that illuminated one side of Asy-Syakirin mosque at KLCC.
Do enjoy your stay.

The Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque
|
|
Last two weekends I happened to wake up very early. I decided to photograph the majestic Selangor state mosque, The Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque. I am always amazed with this mosque huge dome which is reputed to be among the largest mosque dome in the world and fascinated by its sheer beauty. So I dragged my camera and tripod at the wee hour of the morning and I admit I enjoyed shooting it. The transformation of light at this hour and the beauty of the sky further thrilled me to come up with the shots that I can be happy with for now. Do enjoy viewing them and leave your comments if you feel like it.
I used Nikon F80 with Tamron 28-200 XR fitted with polarizer, tripod-mounted. For film I opted for Fuji Provia 100F.

Kelana Jaya Lake Garden
|
|
Taking my son to the Kelana Jaya Lake Garden has become a routine for me as it is the nearest park to our house. It is the playground that attracts him. Although I can always see some photo opportunity I wouldnt be able to take picture if I go there with him. I can only take picture when I am alone without being disturbed or interfered with by him.
Shooting in the morning is my favourite thing to do in the weekend. Here do enjoy viewing a couple of pictures that I managed to shoot in the garden alone on one weekend.
