KLCC as seen from Jalan Jelatek
|
|
I stopped by at Jalan Jelatek one morning after driving my wife to her office. The weather was pleasantly clear and haze-free the blue sky made its rare appearance and I couldnt resist taking some pictures. From Jalan Jelatek you can see KLCC which is not that far and I knew the potential pictures were there. I parked my car, took out my tripod and shot away...
These are 3 chosen pictures out of almost a dozen I think....
Well Ansel Adams once said he was lucky enough if he bagged one good picture in one month....huh?

An ordinary thing
|
|
My attempt in presenting ordinary things in an unusual appearance.
Stumbled on this scene when I was about to have an evening tea with family in Sg Buloh. What attracted me was the brilliant colours of red and yellow chairs illuminated by the warm light of the late evening sun light....

Low light and long shadow
|
|
I am a sucker for sidelit object because it gives dramatic impact with long shadow and it accentuates the texture. The sidelighting also more often than not cast warm light either from late evening sunlight or early morning light.
One of my photography sifus says partially lit subject is much more interesting than fully lit one.
How true.

It's Maghrib Time
|
|
|
Many a photographer love to shoot unique and unusual formation of cloud maybe as one of their self-expression. There are many factors that draw them to shoot with the reasons only known to them. I couldn't resist shooting this unique formation when it appeared before me while I went shooting the Shah Alam Mosque one evening.
I entitle mine "A Dancing Cloud" because the cloud looks as if it rose from its formation and started to perform a dance. On the other hand it also looks like a brush stroke of paint done by an artist on a canvas...well it depends on the way you look at it. In whatever way you look at it, it is actually the beauty of the God-created nature.
The second picture is the shot of The Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque that I managed to bag on that day. That's the best one out of several shots (The best in my eyes lahh) which is entitled "It's Maghrib Time" as I shot this at the beginning of the maghrib prayer time.
Do enjoy the picture

The Dayabumi Complex
|
|
It has been quite long since updated this fotopage of mine. I would love to keep it updated every day if possible unfortunately there are other commitments that demand greater time and more serious effort. However today I am pretty free and I feel like updating this page so much after I got the new pics of Dayabumi which I shot last weekend. I was so ecstatic that morning since that was one of the rarest time that we in KL could enjoy the deep blue sky although it didn’t last till evening. I was snapping away until I forgot that I should have shot one of those photos with the disposable camera which was sitting in my camera bag. The disposable camera is a photomalaysia.com project which requires a participant to shoot only one frame and it is to be passed to the next member subsequently.
The Dayabumi Complex was actually one of the first projects that benefited from the then newly introduced Look East Policy under Dr Mahathir premiership. The Dayabumi Complex project fell under the Dayabumi Urban Development Project whose construction was awarded to Takenaka Corporation of Japan and another 2 JV partners.
The Dayabumi Building Complex was constructed unconventionally by using steel frame structure instead of using conventional method of reinforced concrete. Thus the construction period was greatly shortened to merely 26 months with even higher quality and strength instead of 44 months if reinforced concrete were to be used. The building comprises 36 floors above ground and its contruction was completed in 1984 which became the new KL landmark at that time.
Dayabumi Building (1984)
Location: Kuala Lumpur
Design: BEP + MAA Architects
Construction: Takenaka Corporation and 2 other companies (JV)
Total floor space: 150,682m2

A colourful pattern
|
|
This colourful canopy can be found at The First World Hotel, Genting Highland. Currently Genting Group is holding a photo contest but I dont bother to participate. Why? Because each and every participating photo will become Genting's property once you submit it to them. It simply means the cheap way of garnering free good images of their own properties without hiring pro photogs the same thing done by Sunway Group recently. On top of that every photo submitted you have to pay RM10.00. Isnt that silly huh?
Let's boycott the contest !

Kuala Lumpur III
|
|
Kuala Lumpur Series continues....
01 - Allah and Muhammad
Stumbled on this while on the way out of the National Mosque. I had to shoot from outside through a glass wall. To eliminate the reflection I pressed my lens lightly on the glass pane which also acted as the support to shoot in low light.
02 KL Taxi
I waited for the colourful one which reflects the Malaysian colour flag motif
03 KTM Building dome
The dome of the moorish-inspired KTM Building which still stands strong after more than a hundred years. It was shot through The National Mosque Islamic pattern
04 The Islamic Pattern Tiles
This I found just outside the National Mosque. The addition of a huma figure provides a sense of scale and a point of interest. A scarve-wearing lady is preferred when shooting Malaysian ladies as it quickly reflects the identitiy of Malaysia through the style the scarve is worn or so says En Bazuki Muhammad, a REUTERS photojournalist
05 The Sultan Abdul Samad Building
Another Moorish inspired building. It is learnt that The British colonial governent had to open a new brick factory to cater to the construction of this building. It was a huge building by its standard at that time.

A Holiday In Genting Highland
|
|
Last weekend I took my family to Genting Highland for a holiday and in conjunction with our 4th wedding anniversary celebration. We went there on Friday evening after work to benefit from its weekdays lower rate and to avoid upcoming peak season next week or the worst the week after i.e Chinese New Year long holiday. We stayed at Genting Theme Park Hotel. My kids were certainly the happiest and most excited ones. The cold climate and the enticing theme park outside which was visible from the hotel room made especially my son Danial more ecstatic.
In the morning (actually it was already mid-afternoon) we went to the theme park but opted for only non-thrilling games considering my son was not daring enough to try the roller-coaster and other adrenaline-pumping games.
My daughter was still small at 1 year old. She didnt seem to understand but she obviously enjoyed the unusual surrounding she was in and the numerous rides that she joined.
Me, as usual being a photo enthusiast, couldnt help taking pictures. I liked the colourful and cartoonish surrounding although the flat lighting thanks to overcast weather and mist didnt appeal well to accentuate the mood so did my various photography gurus say.
However in this inevitably natural condition I think it had its own appeal.
Do enjoy viewing the photos altough it is sort of more like a family album.
My family and I would like to wish our Chinese friends especially the fellow fotopagers A Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year.
