KL Landmarks

The two KL landmarks which have been photographed to death are Petronas Twin Tower and KL Tower. I attempted to avoid shooting them from the normal angle and I have come up with these shots although I wish the lighting was more favourable and more flattering.

Jay Jay the venerable singer

A few days before fasting month I attended my wifes companys annual dinner. As usual a corporate dinner wouldnt be complete without a singing performance by a local artist. This time the local singer engaged was the venerable singer Jay Jay. Jay Jay has been singing as far as I can remember since I was a schoolgoing kid. And to my surprise he still looked the same as he did 20 years ago. Whats your secret Jay Jay?

Anyway that night he sang many nostalgic songs that evoked memory of my childhood and my school days. Those good old days were refreshed back in my mind and it suddenly made me realize that it has been about 16 years since I left school days (stop calculating my age!)

How song can sometimes play wonderful magic on us. I enjoyed his performance that night very much. By the way I also managed to take some pictures of Jay Jay as I happened to take my camera along at that night.

I always take my son to Kelana Jaya Lake Garden either in the early morning or late evening. And whenever I happen to bring my camera along I cant resist snapping some pictures. I hope this lake garden will always be preserved by the power-that-be in spite of the active and rapid development going on in the vicinity......

Taking pictures in the early morning is always fun as the lighting is never boring and dull. This kind of lighting is called the 'magic hour' or 'the golden hour' in photographic terms...or some people may call it 'National Geographic lighting' simply because photos in NatGeo were almost always shot within this hour either in the early morning or late evening....

A courting couple

I normally do not have courage to shoot people candid. I am not sure what would be the response I would get from people that I shoot. But in this case maybe the guy was too immersed in the conversation with his girlfriend (or maybe his girlfriend-to-be) while watching the river flowing under the bridge in the late evening didnt care about me taking his picture even though he knew my presence there with my camera.

I shot this in the late evening somewhere at the Sg Klang river bank near The Jamek Mosque.

Men at work

While replenishing the nicotine supply into my body outside my office I noticed there was new construction site behind my office building. The place used to have one big pond which I suspect resulted from the abandoned mining. The pond served as a small wetland sanctuary which became a habitat for a couple of animal species such as monitor lizard, ducks, various species of fish, otter etc. I usually enjoyed watching them from my office window but they are all gone. The said pond has been reclaimed to make way for development which I believe is condominium project. How sad.....
